Business climate in Russia: big investment plans for German economy
German economy is optimistic about Russian business in 2018. Experts came to this conclusion after the Business Climate Survey 2018, which was conducted by the AHK Russia and the East Committee of the German Economy.
141 German companies participated in the survey, which employ almost 76,000 people in Russia and earn more than 11 billion euros.
"In 2017, business for German companies in Russia was already better compared to the previous year.", said Matthias Schepp, managing director of the German-Russian chamber of commerce AHK. "According to companies, Russian business will continue to climb uphill in 2018. 78 percent expect Russian economy to grow positively."
According to the survey, 63 percent of German companies were able to significantly increase their sales in Russia last year. Against this background, German economy wants to further expand its involvement in Russia. Every third company participating in the survey plans to invest over the next twelve months. The planned investments add up to almost half a billion euros.
The survey also highlighted the growing importance of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. For just over half of the German companies surveyed, the organization already plays an important role and is one of the key success factors.
