Household appliances to become 35-40% more energy efficient in EAEU
New requirements for energy efficiency are going to be released for all household appliances in Russia and EAEU countries. The Eurasian European Committee works on the according technical regulation. The basis of the document are 54 Russian GOSTs (set of Russian normative standards), which would allow to reduce the energy consumption by 35-40%. The changes are also going to affect such appliances as TV-sets, washing machines, air conditioners, dishwashers, refrigerators and other household appliances.
According to experts from Rosstandart around 54 GOSTs are in plans, which are supposed to help Russians save up to 40% on energy as a result of them switching to energy saving technologies. 20 standards have already been adopted, and the remaining 34 are going to be adopted until the end of the year. They will enter into force in the period of 2018-2019. These GOSTs will later on become a part of the technical regulation of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The technical regulation of the EAEU “On energy efficiency requirements to electrical appliances” could already be passed in 2017. The representatives of the Eurasian Economic Committee report, that preparatory works on the document are almost over. The development of the technical regulation has already been approved for ratification by the EAEC, and is going to enter into force 18 months from the date of adoption.
